The Dutch Youth Smoking Prevention Foundation is pressing charges against Philip Morris for deception and prohibited advertising of its heated tobacco product. Fines and settlements did not help: now it is up to criminal law. Through its public campaign ‘Stop Philip M.’ the foundation is seeking support for the legal complaint.

The Dutch Advertising Code Committee ruled that the campaign with which PMI called on consumers to respond to an EU internet consultation on tobacco legislation is in violation of the advertising ban under the Dutch Tobacco regulation.

With a two-day media event in Venice, Philip Morris International launched a collaboration with opera singer Andrea Bocelli. What this collaboration entails remained unclear, but the tobacco manufacturer managed to gain worldwide media attention for its transformation story.
